Setting the datatype of a dataset

Observe in the history panel that our dataset's format is "tabular" (blue arrow). This is a very general format that Galaxy can't do much with. Since our dataset has genomic coordinates, we will change the datatype to the more specific "interval" type. (Although the data is actually in pgSnp format, that is not one of Galaxy's officially recognized datatypes.)

Click on the Datatype tab (red arrow). When you start to type "interval" in the New Type box, a short list of valid matches will be provided; choose "interval" (red arrow). Then click the Save button (green arrow). Once Galaxy updates the metadata, you should see the columns for chromosome, start position, and end position correctly labeled next to the column numbers in the history panel.

Now repeat these steps to obtain the data for the GBR, YRI, and LWK populations. Use all of the same settings except for the table name.
