Compatibility between Word and EndNote
[edit]
Problem:
You can not use EndNote in Word.
[edit]
Possible solution:
The cause of this problem is no doubt that you have a conflict in Word and EndNote.
1. Thus, the first solution is to check whether the version of your Word is compatible with your EndNote.
See these pages for compatibility: Windows platform Mac platform
2. If your problem still exists, you better make sure whether you can call EndNote in Word, which means whether you could find EndNote option under "Tools" of Word.
- If "no", close Word and EndNote.
Go to "Finder", copy (or make symbolic links of) two files:
EndNote (Version) CWYW Commands.dot (e.g. EndNote X2 XWYW Commands.dot) and
EndNote (Version) CWYW Word (Version) (e.g. EndNote X2 CWYW Word 2008)
from "Applications/EndNote/Cite While You Write" folder
to "Applications/Microsoft office/office/startup/Word" folder.
- If "yes", close Word and EndNote.
Go to "Library/Preferences/Microsoft" Folder, delete a file "Office Registration Cache 11".
This will make your Word and EndNote work, ONCE.
Thus, each time before you start Word, delete the same file manually.
